Abstract English

The effect of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic on the performance of Hajj and Umrah rituals: a geographical studyAbstractThe spread of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) has caused a global health and humanitarian crisis accompanied by widespread social, economic and religious disorders in various parts of the world. The research aims to highlight the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic on the performance of the rituals of Hajj and Umrah through its effect on the numbers of pilgrims and their rates of change, and the extent of the effect on the characteristics of Umrah pilgrims, and the extent to which sectors related to the performance of Hajj and Umrah rituals are affected due to the effect of the pandemic on the performance of rituals, in addition to the effect of the pandemic on the revenues of Hajj and Umrah. The study relied on the comparative approach, the evolutionary approach, the spatial variation approach, and the economic approach. The study has showed that there is a decline in the number of pilgrims due to the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the pandemic also affected the characteristics of Umrah pilgrims. Pandemic losses were estimated at $12 billion. The study recommended the need to continue to apply precautionary measures, and to support the sectors related to the performance of the rituals of Hajj and Umrah, which were affected by the pandemic. تأثير جائحة فيروس کورونا المستجد (کوفيد-19) على أداء شعائر الحج والعمرة: دراسة جغرافيةملخص البحث:تسبب تفشي فيروس کورونا المستجد (کوفيد-19) في أزمة صحية وإنسانية عالمية مصحوبة باضطرابات اجتماعية واقتصادية ودينية واسعة النطاق شملت شتى بقاع الأرض.ويهدف البحث إلى إبراز تأثير جائحة کورونا على أداء شعائر الحج والعمرة من خلال تأثيرها على أعداد الحجاج والمعتمرين ونسب تغيرهم، ومدى التأثير على خصائص المعتمرين، ومدى تأثر القطاعات المرتبطة بأداء شعائر الحج والعمرة بسبب تأثير الجائحة على أداء الشعائر، بالإضافة إلى تأثير الجائحة على إيرادات وعوائد الحج والعمرة.واعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج المقارن،والمنهج التطوري ومنهج التباين المکاني.وأظهرت الدراسة تراجع أعداد الحجاج والمعتمرين بسبب تأثير جائحة کورونا، کما أثرت الجائحة على خصائص المعتمرين طبقاً لفئات العمر والجنسية ومدة الإقامة، وتأثرت القطاعات المرتبطة بأداء شعائر الحج والعمرة ومنها قطاعات: النقل والفنادق وهدايا الحجاج والمعتمرين والمطاعم وغيرها، کما تراجعت إيرادات الحج والعمرة بشکل کبير بسبب الجائحة وقدرت الخسائر بنحو 12مليار دولار أمريکي.وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة الاستمرار في تطبيق الإجراءات الاحترازية، ودعم القطاعات المرتبطة بأداء شعائر الحج والعمرة والتي تأثرت بالجائحة. الکلمات المفتاحية: جائحة کورونا، الحج والعمرة، خصائص الحجاج والمعتمرين، قطاعات النقل والفنادق والمطاعم، العوائد الاقتصادية.
