Abstract English

This study seeks to analyze the pattern of human settlements distribution in Ajloun Governorate in 2015, identify some of the spatial characteristics, and provide the population projections for the years 2025 and 2040. The study uses the descriptive analytical approach and the potential of geographic information systems to achieve its goals. The study concludes by asserting that the distribution patterns of human settlements were randomly scattered; the nearest neighborhood index reached (1.15), Moreover, the direction of the spatial extension of its northeastern line coincides with the extension of transportation networks and all centers have seen an increase in growth particularly in the north-east and center of the study area. Results of the study also show that there is considerable variation in the spatial distribution of the sizes of human settlement centers during 2015.

الملخص العربي

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل نمط توزيع المستوطنات البشرية في محافظة عجلون لعام 2015، ومعرفة بعض خصائصها المكانية واجراء الاسقاطات السكانية لها لعامي 2025 و2040. وقد استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي وإمكانيات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية لتحقيق أهدافها. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى نمط توزيع المستوطنات البشرية كان عشوائيا مشتتا إذ بلغت قيمة معامل صلة الجوار(1.15)، كما أن اتجاه الامتداد المكاني لها في الشمال الشرقي يتوافق مع امتداد شبكة النقل والمواصلات في المحافظة، كما اوضحت نتائج الدراسة أن هناك تباينًا كبيرًا في التوزيع المكاني لأحجام مراكز الاستيطان البشري في محافظة عجلون فيما بين عام 1979 وعام 2015.
