Abstract English

Zawyet Al Kods is located at Abu Mansour district, Derna city, Libya, up southern plateau of the Gebanet Al Sahaba. It can be reached by climbing because it was built inside a cave on the top of the plateau. It was constructed by Mohamed Bin Al Sanusi in 1260 AH / 1844 AD, as stated by Al Hajj Hussein Al Jerbi whose father was participated in its construction. Thus, it date back to the Second Ottoman Period (1251-1329AH/ 1835-191AD). Zawyet Al Kods has many names, including: the mosque Kods, mosque of the rock because it was carved in the mountain and it was known also as the Mosque of Zawia Sanusi relative to Mohamed Bin Al Sanusi, which is considered as irregulary shaped space almost rectangular. It has one single facade which is the eastern facade Because it was carved into the rocks. Moreover, Zawyet Al Kods has a stairs minaret in the corner, which has few stairs ends with the top of plateau. It is low and characterized by the Moroccan architecture.

تقع زاوية القدس بحى أبو منصور بمدينة درنة بليبيا، أعلى هضبة جنوب جبانة الصحابة، ويتم الوصول إليها عن طريق صاعد لأنها بُنيت داخل كهف أعلى الهضبة، وقد أنشأها محمد بن السنوسي عام 1260هـ/1844م، وفقاً لما ذكره الحاج حسين الجربي من أهالى درنة وكان والده من الذين أشرفوا على بنائها، وبذلك هى ترجع للعصر العثماني الثاني (1251-1329ه/1835-1911م، وللزاوية أسماء عدة منها مسجد القدس، ومسجد الصخرة لأنها نُحتت في الجبل، كما عُرفت بمسجد الزاوية السنوسية نسبة إلى محمد بن السنوسي، وهى عبارة عن مساحة غير منتظمة الشكل مستطيلة المسقط تقريباً، ولها واجهة واحدة هي الواجهة الشرقية لأنها منحوت في الصخر. كانت توجد بالزاوية مئذنة من نوع (المئذنة السلم)، عبارة عن عدة درجات سلم تنتهى بسطح الهضبة، وهى قليلة الإرتفاع، تتسم بطابع فن العمارة المغربية.
