Abstract English
There is no clear evidence or facts regarding the history of the ancient Israelites. Therefore, the problem of writing the history of the ancient Israelites is one of the most complex issues among the historians past and present. The Old Testament, the holy Book of the Jews and the source of their ancient history, cannot be relied upon to write the history of the ancient Israelites. Other sources, whether literary, archaeological or epigraphic, need a historical research and scrutiny. This study defines the sources of the history of the ancient Israelites and identifies their types. In addition, it classifies these sources, their chronological order, and how they can be used for history writing. Finally, the study presents the most important examples of the writing of ancient Israelite history in the 19th and 20th centuries
الملخص العربي
لا توجد أدلة واضحة أو حقائق ثابتة فيما يتعلق بتاريح بنى إس ا رئيل القديم. ولذلکتعد إشکالية کتابة تاريخ بنى إس ا رئيل القديم واحدة من أعقد القضايا التى شغلت المؤرخينقديما وحديثا. فالعهد القديم، وهو کتاب اليهود المقدس، ومصدر تاريخهم القديم، لا يمکنالاعتماد عليه فى کتابة تاريخ بنى إس ا رئيل. کما ان المصادر الأخرى سواء کانت مصادرأدبية أو مواد أثرية أو نقوش تحتاج إلى بحث وتدقيق تاريخي. تقدم هذه الد ا رسة تعريفا بأهممصادر تاريخ بنى إس ا رئيل القديم وتحدد أنواعها. کما تحاول تصنيف هذه المصادر،وترتيبها تاريخيا، وکيفية استخدامها فى الکتابة التاريخية. وأخي ا ر تقدم الد ا رسة عرضا لأهمنماذج کتابة تاريخ بنى إس ا رئيل فى القرنين 19 ، 2
