Abstract English

This study aims to examine the effect of the flow of foreign investments in Egypt, especially after the economic experience of Muhammad Ali was hit and the foreigners obtained many privileges that had a direct impact on pumping their money and investing in Egypt. This resulted in providing them with the opportunity to establish many companies contributing in the field of services and public facilities, such as water, gas and electricity in the city of Alexandria, the most important of which is the Alexandria Water Company, which was established to provide pure water to the city's neighborhoods. The study also aims to shed light on the establishment of the English Alexandria Water Company and the mechanisms used by the company to provide water to the city’s residents and how the Egyptian government had the right to control the activities the company's capital and the impact of the company's activities on the Alexandrian community. The study concluded that foreign capital and companies were able to control projects of public benefit and that the company was able to control Alexandria's water facilities for nearly a century, which had a direct impact on the city’s population and its society, such as expanding the urban expansion of the city, supplying clean water and raising the health level of the city dwellers. The study also found that the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 had a direct impact on foreign investments when the Egyptian government egyptianized the company in 1958, issued a law to nationalize it in July 1961, and then converted it into an Egyptian joint stock company. The study relies mainly on documents such as the notebooks and documents of the Sunni authorities, Turkish and Arab, the minutes of the municipal and administrative commission sessions, the municipal commission of the city of Alexandria, the documents of the Alexandria governorate, and the reports and statistics of the joint-stock companies in Egypt.

الملخص العربي

تهدف هذه الدراسة الى معرفة اثر تدفق الاستثمارات الأجنبية على مصر وخاصة بعد ضرب تجربة محمد علي الإقتصادية وحصول الأجانب العديد من الامتيازات التي کان لها تأثير مباشر على على ضخ أموالهم واستثمارها في مصر مما ترتب عليه إتاحة الفرصة لهم لتأسيس العديد من الشرکات المساهمة فى مجال الخدمات والمرافق العامة مثل المياة والغاز والکهرباء في مدينة الإسکندرية ومنها توفير المياه النقية لأحياء المدينة، ومن أهمها شرکة مياة الإسکندرية ، کما تهدف الدراسة الى إلقاء الضوء حول تأسيس الشرکة الإنجليزية لمياه الإسکندرية والآليات التي استخدمتها الشرکة لتوفير المياة لمدينة الإسکندرية وتأثير نشاط الشرکة على المجتمع السکندري وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن رؤس الأموال والشرکات الأجنبية استطاعت السيطرة على المشروعات ذات المنفعة العامة کما توصلت الدراسة أن الشرکة استطاعت السيطرة على مرافق مياة الإسکندرية ما يقترب من قرن من الزمان مما کان له تأثير مباشر على سکان المدينة ومجتمعها مثل التوسع في الإمتداد العمراني للمدينة وتوريد المياه النقية ورفع المستوى الصحي لسکان المدينة. کما توصلت الدراسة الى أن قيام ثورة يوليو1952م کان لها تأثير مباشر على الاستثمارات الأجنبية عندما قامت الحکومة المصرية بتمصير الشرکة 1958م وإصدار قانون بتأميمها في يوليو 1961م، وتحويلها الى شرکة مساهمة مصرية وأعتمدت الدراسة على الوثائق بصفة أساسية مثل دفاتر ووثائق المعية السنية ترکي وعربي ومحاضر جلسات القومسيون البلدي والإداري والمأمورية البلدية لمدينة الإسکندرية وثائق محافظة الإسکندريةوتقارير وإحصائيات الشرکات المساهمة التي يوجد استغلالها الرئيسي في مصر
