Abstract English

Geographical Assessment of Public Services in the Institutes of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in the State of KuwaitKeywords: Institutes of Applied Education and Training, Spatial Analysis, GIS, State of Kuwait.Research Summary: This study analyzed a group of public services provided by the institutes of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in the State of Kuwait to trainees registered there. The study aims to evaluate the services related to parking, restaurants, cafés, gardens, and green areas that spread in the region and the extent of their adequacy to provide comfort to students between lectures. The study also examined the efficiency of Internet networks that serve students in the educational process, specially the distance learning system inside and outside institutes.The descriptive approach and the analytical and quantitative approach were relied upon through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques and its multiple tools, for analyzing the public services that exist in the buildings of applied education and training institutes and their adequacy and ability to serve students and trainees in the institutes. Also, statistical analysis tools and evaluation of questionnaire forms collected from personal interviews were used, in order to produce better results about the public services provided to students, teaching staff members, and employees of the institutes.

الملخص العربي

تناولت هذه الدراسة تحليل مجموعة من الخدمات العامة التي تقدمها معاهد الهيئة العامة للتعليم التطبيقي والتدريب بدولة الكويت للمتدربين المسجلين بها، حيث تهدف الدراسة إلى تقييم الخدمات التي تتعلق بمواقف السيارات والمطاعم والكافية والحدائق والمناطق الخضراء التي تنتشر بالمنطقة ومدى كفايتها لتقديم الراحة للطلاب بين المحاضرات. كما تناولت الدراسة مدى كفاءة شبكات الانترنت التي تخدم الطلاب في العملية التعليمة خاصة نظام التعلم عن بعد داخل المعاهد وخارجها.وقد تم الاعتماد على المنهج الوصفي والمنهج التحليلي والكمي من خلال استخدام تقنيات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية (GIS) وأدواتها المتعددة. لتحليل الخدمات العامة التي توجد في مباني معاهد التعليم التطبيقي والتدريب ومدى كفايتها وقدرتها على خدمة الطلاب والمتدربين بالمعاهد. أيضاً تم استخدم أدوات التحليل الاحصائي وتقييم استمارات الاستبانة التي تم جمعها من المقابلات الشخصية، وذلك للخروج بنتائج أفضل عن الخدمات العامة المقدمة للطلاب وأعضاء هيئة التدريس والعاملين بالمعاهد.وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج تتمثل في زيادة أعداد المتدربين، ونقص الخدمات العامة المقدمة لهم من خدمات المطاعم والكافيات وخدمات الانترنت المجاني للطلاب، مع توفر خدمات مواقف السيارات وأن المساحات الخضراء تمثل 20 % من إجمالي الاستخدامات في حرم معاهد التعليم التطبيقي. وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة سد العجز في الخدمات المقدمة للمتدربين ووضع خطة مستقبلية للأجيال القادمة نظرا لزيادة أعداد السكان المستمرة بالكويت.
