Abstract English
Abstract This paper investigates the possible role of the verb ‘to be’ in the process of constructing the metaphysical system of Parmenides and that of Sadr al-Din al-Shirazi (known as Mulla Sadra). The investigation begins with a preliminary observation of the different uses of the verb ‘to be' and their philosophical and logical significance. Afterward, I investigate the content of the basic premises of Parmenides’ argument regarding the true nature of being in light of the former classification of the uses of the verb ‘to be’ and whether these premises were affected by a certain use of that verb. Then, I critically investigate Mulla Sadra’s understanding of the nature of being mediated by Alfarabi’s remarks regarding the verb ‘to be’ and its proper translation into Arabic, and Avicenna’s employment of the notion of being and its ontological connotation. The investigation ends with the conclusion that supports the idea of the presence of a significant role of the verb ‘to be’ in the metaphysical system of Parmenides and that of Mulla Sadra. The study relies on the analytical and critical methodology.

يتناول هذا البحث الدور المحتمل الذي يلعبه فعل الكينونة (the verb ‘to be’) في الأنظمة الماورائية التي شيدها الفيلسوف اليوناني بارمينيديس والفيلسوف الإسلامي صدر الدين الشيرازي. يبدأ هذا البحث بمقدمة توضح -بصورة نقدية تحليلية مفصلة- استعمالات هذا الفعل وأهميتها الفلسفية والمنطقية بناء على نظريات بعضا من أهم الباحثين المتأخرين في الفلسفة اليونانية. بعد ذلك سأقوم بفحص مضمون المقدمات الرئيسة التي بنى عليها بارمينيديس استدلاله على واحدية الوجود وثباته، وعدم قبوله للتغير والتكثر، وذلك في ضوء الاستعمالات التي أشرت إليها في المقدمة، وما إذا كانت (تلك المقدمات) قد تأثرت -بصورة ما- بتلك الاستعمالات لفعل الكينونة.سأنتقل بعد ذلك إلى النظر بصورة تفصيلية نقدية في تصور صدر الدين الشيرازي لحقيقة الوجود، وذلك عبر ملاحظات الفارابي لفعل الكينونة، واقتراحاته للمقابل العربي الأنسب له، واستخدام ابن سينا لمفهوم الوجود ولدلالاته الأنطولوجية. ينتهي البحث إلى ترجيح وجود دور كبير ومؤثر لفعل الكينونة في تصور بارمينيديس وصدر الدين الشيرازي لحقيقة الوجود.أما بخصوص المنهج المتبع في هذا البحث، فهو إلى المنهج القبلي التحليلي النقدي أقرب.الكلمات المهمة: استعمالات فعل الكينونة، الصدق، بارمينيديس، صدر الدين الشيرازي، أصالة الوجود.
